Sarah is trained in Holistic Medical Massage which is recognised as an advanced massage therapy, and therefore incorporates remedial techniques to reduce specific pain problems. We use a ‘listening touch’ and communication to help identify problem areas and then treat them using a variety of techniques, including myofascial release, trigger point therapy, hot and cold stones, deep tissue and stretching. The massage is performed slowly and deeply, working within your own tolerance levels.
For best results 6 weekly sessions
50 to 60 minutes
Dependant of individual tolerance, but no higher than 7/10
May feel some discomfort for up to 2 days
After completion of 6 sessions, but regular maintenance may be required for some conditions.
Trigger Point Therapy
Trigger point massage therapy is designed to diminish the source of the specific pain through cycles of isolated pressure and release. In this type of massage, the individual actively participates through deep breathing as well as continually communicating the exact location and intensity of the discomfort.
A trigger point or muscle ‘knot’ is a sensitive area within muscle tissue that causes pain in other parts of the body. A trigger point in the back, for example, may produce pain in the neck. The neck, now acting as an associated trigger point, may then cause pain in the head. The pain may be sharp and intense or a dull ache.
Our therapy includes targeted rubbing and pressing on these trigger points and whilst science has still not fully understood why they occur, we can relieve the discomfort you are experiencing with exceptional results after just a single treatment. We would suggest regular therapy to help you manage ongoing pain conditions. Come and talk to our therapists about the best way we can help you.
Sarah Hurst Skin Clinic therapists are chosen for the quality of care they give and for the variety of therapeutic techniques they have mastered through advanced knowledge and training. Each treatment we offer is completely tailored around your needs to make your life more comfortable.
Myofascial release is a therapeutic massage that gently manipulates the fascia, the tough, connective tissue that covers the body like a web stretching from head to toe.
Trauma, habitual poor posture and inflammation can create a binding down of fascia resulting in excessive pressure on nerves, muscles, blood vessels, osseous structures and organs.
Restrictions within the fascial system can occur after surgery, falls, excessive scar tissue formation, or even stress. If left untreated, the tightened fascia can lead to increased pain, headaches, postural changes and decreased motion.
