Beauty is More than Skin Deep with Observ Skin Diagnostics

Back in the day, if a beauty therapist wanted to closely examine your skin to decide which treatments would be best, they would look closely at it usually using a bright light.  Fortunately, now we can look deeper.  The Observ Skin Diagnostics machine we have in our Brighton salon uses a broader range of light than the Wood’s lamp many salons use so can give a clearer picture of exactly what is going on with your skin on the surface and beneath it so we can tackle problems before they’ve even fully surfaced and deal with existing conditions on a deeper level.

How it Works

Like a Wood’s lamp, the Observ machine uses the fluorescence in the skin to detect underlying problems.  This works as different types of skin condition can be identified by the colour and patterns of fluorescent that are revealed under true UV light.  What makes the Observ different to other skin diagnostic systems is that it uses a wide range of light types to reveal a broader range of problems.  Light types include a similar type to the Wood’s lamps, true UV, parallel-polarization mode, cross-polarization mode and a complexion analysis mode.  Pictures taken under these lights are uploaded to an iPad so they can be analysed by one of our skin experts.  Using the iPad means we can zoom in to get a really close look at certain areas and store the pictures.

What it Reveals

Using all these different types of light and magnification allows the Observ machine to diagnose problems associated with sun damage, pigmentation and melasma pigmentation as well as the following:

• Porphyrin in acne and comedones

• Free oil flow

• Plugged pores

• Areas of keratinized skin

• Areas with diminished circulation

• Dehydrated skin

• Vascular conditions

• Rosacea

• Skin irritations

• Areas of lipid-dry skin

• Milia

• Area with collagen loss

• Sensitive and thinned skin areas

• Wrinkle formations

• Fine skin surface texture

• Fine line patterns

• Microrelief

Why We Use It

Once we have identified exactly which issues your skin has, we can design a regime of products and treatments which are perfectly tailored to your needs.  Using this depth of analysis suits the way we work because we don’t just treat surface problems, we use treatments to penetrate deeply into the lower levels of the skin and vitamin supplements to nourish and restore the skin from within.  When used as part of the IIAA 100 Day Reset Programme, we take more pictures at the end of the programme and compare these to original to demonstrate how effective the treatment plan has been.

When you attend a skin analysis at our salon in Brighton, we use the Observ machine and then talk you through the pictures to show you everything that is going on with your skin.  This is a long thorough consultation where our experts point out all the various features of your skin and make recommendations to address any concerns you have.  They will answer all your questions to help you gain a deeper understanding of your skin and its needs.  To take full advantage of all the benefits offered by our Observ Skin Diagnostics system book a skin analysis here or call 01273 270709.
